How Mobile Threat Net Works
Mobile Threat Net provides much of the same capability of its companion Threat Net system, but with the mobility afforded by satellite data delivery. To use Mobile Threat Net in the field, spotters need only an XM antenna, a portable WxWorx receiver, and a display device such as a laptop PC. High-resolution radar, echo tops, wind shear detection and more then become accessible, allowing spotters to make the best placement decisions on the fly and signaling the areas most susceptible to storm damage.
In addition to the standard display capabilities, Mobile Threat Net offers Baron’s patented AutoTrac® feature, which provides accurate information on storm parameters while allowing spotters to create storm tracks with estimated times of arrival in the mapping display.
Despite the complex satellite technology driving XM WX Satellite Weather, Mobile Threat Net is extremely easy to use. Data product buttons are large and self-explanatory, so there’s never any need to fumble with a thick manual during the tense moments before a severe weather outbreak.
