Baron’s International endeavors have set new standards in hydrological and meteorological applications.
In Paraguay, Baron installed an advanced Doppler weather radar for that country’s Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The radar is now being used to better pinpoint areas of probable flooding, assisting Paraguay’s disaster management services.
For Taiwan, a unique system was developed that offers an enhanced redundancy, featuring two independent transmitters.
That radar is being used at the Chiang Kai-Shek International Airport, where it aids in air safety.
Baron has also been involved in the Romanian SIMIN project, where it worked with Lockheed Martin and Harris
Corporation to modernize that country’s national weather service. The follow-up Romanian Destructive Waters project will
result in the most advanced flood prediction system in the world.
Baron's involvement on the U.S. military’s SBX floating defense platform resulted in the development
of a dual-purpose radar system for simultaneous meteorological and air surveillance. The rugged design
necessitated by its deployment at sea is evidence that Baron radars are ideal for continuous operation in any environment.
Additionally, the company’s pioneering developments in dual-polarization capability resulted in a unique
polarimetric radar for the University of Alabama in Huntsville. The radar, shared by the university’s
operational meteorologists and WHNT-TV in Huntsville, Ala., was the first broadcast industry polarimetric
radar in the United States.
