With the power to project storms up to an hour into the future, FutureScan® is the next iteration of futurecasing technology. Developed in conjunction with the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), FutureScan ensures the highest degree of meteorological integrity while seamlessly integrating in Baron’s VIPIR®
and OmniWxTrac® visualization tools.
With FutureScan, meteorologists can view projected data in 5-minute increments, up to two hours into the future.
The data can be generated from individual radar sites, or as a nationwide composite. This capability also allows meteorologists to view past, present and future radar returns in a single lapse.
By knowing beforehand where a storm is expected to move, and if it will strengthen or decay, users will be able to better allocate resources, boosting their
decision-making process with earlier, more accurate information.
