15 Years of Innovation - 15 Years of Service
A compelling review of just some of the innovation highlights from Baron Services over the years. While some of these features are now considered "standard" on most weather systems, all remained exclusive for a number of years— and some remain exclusive to our clients today. All changed the way you cover the weather. As many of you like to remind your viewers, "You saw it here first."
1990 - First Broadcast Lightning Display
The nation's first real-time broadcast lightning display was a result of a Technology Transfer program with NASA.
1992 - OmniWxTrac Debuts
The industry's first real-time storm tracking system was created. OmniWxTrac's ability to navigate mapping in real-time and generate instant storm tracks launches in Tornado Alley but quickly spreads across the nation.
1993 - City Street Level Mapping
Baron Services creates the industry's first real-time City Streets (street level) mapping system, combining radar, lightning, and storm tracking.
1994 - FasTrac
Baron Services releases FasTrac, the first Windows-based PC weather system of its kind. Continuously upgraded over the years, 200+ stations still use Baron's patented FasTrac as their primary storm tracking tool in 2005.
1995 - FasTrac First Broadcast Display of NEXRAD
Baron Services again revolutionizes breaking weather coverage by adding the full NEXRAD Level III data stream to FasTrac's live radar, live lightning, and live map navigation. For the first time, broadcasters don't have to have a live radar to track severe weather.
1996 - FasTrac Street Labeling and Radar Contouring
Baron Services adds to FasTrac the ability to label streets in real-time and to "smooth" radar data at street-level resolution without "smearing" the data. Baron Services also created the ability for multiple TV stations to share their live radar data in real-time.
