Baron Tornado Index (BTI): Revolutionary Tornado Detection
What is the Baron Tornado Index?
The new patent-pending Baron Tornado Index (BTI) introduces ground-breaking technology for tornado detection.
With the BTI, each Baron SCIT (Storm Cell Identification Track) features a ranking on a 1-10 scale, rating the
likelihood of a tornado within that storm. The color of affected shear markers changes from yellow to orange,
then red, as the probability grows higher.
Built on patent-pending and proprietary algorithms integrating radar data with the highest-resolution mesoscale
models available, the Baron Tornado Index provides an easy, one-glance diagnosis of a storm's tornadic potential.
BTI data is free to all Baron data customers until April 15, 2008. After that time, a subscription to
the Advanced Data Service Package is required, or BTI data can be purchased separately.
