BTI Monitors Risk of Tornadoes in Arkansas
The Baron Tornado Index signaled probable tornadoes in a prolific tornadic supercell for the majority of its 160-mile path.

At 4:33pm, a Baron Shear SCIT (left) indicated a value of 7. |

An EF-4 tornado from the same cell was later reported in Atkins near I-40 and Highway 105 at 5:02pm, causing four fatalities. The NWS later determined that the tornado's path was 123 miles long, the longest in Arkansas since 1950. |

Numerous additional tornadoes were reported as the storm tracked to the northeast, with a BTI value of 7+ reported for nearly an hour and a half. |
